Developmental milestones are general guideposts, not strict deadlines — every child grows at their own pace. Still, they're a useful way to notice when extra support might help.

By 12 months, most children can sit without support, respond to their name, and say a first word or two. By 18 months, many are walking independently and following simple instructions. By age 3, most children can speak in short sentences, follow two-step instructions, and play alongside other children.
